Weather Update:

School is open as usual this morning. Please take your time and arrive safely. We will extend the gate opening until 9am this morning to allow for any issues you have related to the weather. 

Storm/Weather Warning Information:

Please be aware that there is a significant chance that school will be closed tomorrow. We aim to let you know for definite before 7am on the website and the mobile site.

The weather forecast’s yellow warning for significant winds has safety implications for us at Gomeldon due to the nature of our site. Three of our five classrooms are mobile – risk assessments show that these are unsafe in very high winds and due to the number of children affected we cannot move them safely in to the main school building. This is compounded by the number of large trees that surround our school site, posing increased dangers to all.

As such if the weather forecast is accurate we will close school tomorrow with the safety of all children, parents and staff in mind. I understand that this will have significant impact on arrangements for tomorrow which is why I wanted to give you as much notice as possible.

We will confirm a definite decision on the website and mobile site by 7am.
